Acne Home Remedies

Health and wellbeing do not depend on the pharmaceutical corporations, and the bothersome issue of acne and its treatment are no different. Not surprisingly, acne home remedies are actually much more effective for all types of people than chemical-laden pharmaceutical 'remedies'. As with many commercially prepared medicines, most acne treatments at the store treat only the outermost symptoms, leaving the underlying imbalance to effect more acne breakouts in the future.

Just like light bulbs and house building materials, commercial acne medicines are geared for a disposable culture. "Why treat acne", the bigwig pharmaceutical companies ponder, "when we can secure lifelong customers with an acne product that will proffer enough promising results that they'll keep buying the stuff their entire lives?"

If that sounds far fetched to you, consider the fact that ever since the modern light bulb has been around we've been able to make them to last several years, but decided that more money can be made off of disposable bulbs that only last a couple of months. And humans have been building living structures that last hundreds and hundreds of years, but only more recently has consumer culture decided that disposable housing materials are preferable.

Not only are all of these products parts of an unsustainable system that cannot replenish the world and the resources used, but they have the same unsustainable effects upon our own individual systems. When we treat symptoms instead of taking the time to determine the underlying imbalance or deficiency, not only can we not expect the problem to go away for very long, but we run the risk of exacerbating the issue.

With acne, the underlying cause is typically associated with bacteria that become trapped in the skin's pores. Naturally, one of the primary parts of an acne home remedy, or any type, is to effectively cleanse the area in order to remove the bacteria before an acne breakout can occur.

The problem with most commercial acne remedies is that they dry the skin to a degree that sebaceous glands produce even more oil in which the bacteria can grow. It's not that the oil is bad, per se, simply that bacteria can breed in areas where oil is allowed to build up and remain trapped below the surface of the skin.

One can combine cleansing and light exfoliation to get underneath the layer of dead surface skin cells simply using an exfoliating cleanser. Now, these types of cleansers are available commercially as well. Though some are almost natural, nearly all of them have alcohol and other unnecessary components. Borax, on the other hand, is an extremely gentle soap in granular form that can be used to exfoliate and cleanse the skin simultaneously.

Some few winters ago I was in a doctor's office with my wife, who was there for a back ache assessment. During that period I had chapped lips, and had requested if the doctor had some lip balm.

Taking one quick look at me, the doctor informed me that my diet has to do with the present condition of my lips. And she explained that taking proper nutritious diets and fluids would prevent chapped lips. This surprised me, but I gave it a shot.

I have stopped using lip balms and my chapped lips are gone. The doctor's method though sounds bizarre, but it surely worked. And if can work on the lips, it means it can also be applied to the skin.

One fact most people don't know is that some substance the food we eat are excretes back through the skin pores, and this should make us realize that acne diets is crucial for some persons, and that foods such as snacks, that contains high fat and grease are the precursors of acne breakouts.

Keeping Acne Under Control

Best Advice For Keeping Acne under Control By Tara Webster, Beauty Consultant

We all at one point or another have struggled with acne. I for one never had a problem until I had my first child. Go figure. Hormones can trigger an imbalance that will cause women to have outbreaks from the ages of 25 -35 or even older. This is not the case for most, but relatively speaking, teens and adults, women and men have bouts with acne breakouts sooner or later.

We all know the basics, but do we really take care of our skin? There are many things that trigger breakouts, and when we do have them we run to the drug store and spend precious dollars on anything that will get this thing off my face right now. I know - been there - done that. In any case, I have a few suggestions, some old and some new that could help you, most of which have been tried by yours truly.

Back to the basics

Wash your face please. Don't get lazy. You have to wash your face morning and night, whether you are male or female. You can skip all the expensive beauty regimens. Go for the antibacterial facial cleansers. Heck, you can even use antibacterial hand soap, unless you have very sensitive skin. I don't remember who told me to do this but I use antibacterial gel directly on the pimple. Well...you got a better solution? Breakouts, in most cases are caused by bacteria. For me, this helped alleviate the problem within days. You will need to use an oil free moisturizer afterwards to keep your skin becoming dry. For small breakouts, just about any product that contains benzyl peroxide or sacilic acid can dry out the pimple in just a few days.

Whiteheads are the worst. They are very painful and if you try to squeeze them you have a higher risk of infection and scarring. Who wants to look in the mirror every day and see a scar that reminds you of the little temporary zit that left a permanent mark on your face? There is a very inexpensive way to combat this, but you have to be patient. It ain't goin nowhere fast. After you wash your face, use hot water (as hot as you can stand without burning your skin) and a washcloth to make a compress. Hold the compress to the affected area for at least 20-30 seconds. Do this a few times and it will open the pores and loosen the dirt and oil.

I don't know about you, but blackheads just get on my nerves. Not only when I have them, but when I look at someone else who has them. Basically, scrub your face daily. Come on, it's not that hard. I wouldn't even consider this to be acne, it would be under the category of laziness. This can also be treated the same way as above, by using a compress. After applying the compress you can try to extract the oil plug by gently squeezing, but not too hard, because that would cause a scar.

Those who have chronic acne, mostly teens, know that these methods work only in conjunction with regular visits to a dermatologist and prescription medications. There are still those who have done this and still fail to find a solution. Although there are a lot of products out there that do claim to treat chronic acne, you should investigate these products and seek out testimonials from others who have used them and have had success.

Baby and Infant Acne

One of the most common conditions a new mother may see on her infant, is baby acne. But while it is startling in so young a child, it's really not a serious issue, nor should you be overly concerned about the causes or cures.

Some babies when born, may have small red bumps on their face. This is not baby acne, but something called "milia", which usually disappears in a couple of weeks. On the other hand, the acne will appear around that same two week period, and show itself as small white heads, sometimes surrounded by red, irritated skin on the cheeks, chin, forehead and even the back.

In teenagers and even adults, acne is blamed on hormones and excessively oily skin. To some extent this is true of infants also, with hormones transmitted through the placenta, often being blamed for the facial spots. However, science has no real idea of the cause, and there is normally no treatment for the few weeks a child will have it.

Because the baby acne appears on areas of the face where they may have spit up, rubbed against sheets washed in harsh detergent, or drooled, it can become slightly aggravated, but that extra irritation will go away by changing your laundry soap, and wiping their face with a damp cloth when needed.

It is not advisable to try home remedies such as creams or oil, as these will only irritate the skin further. As a rule, nothing more is needed than washing once a day with mild baby soap. In some cases where the baby acne appears to get significantly worse, your doctor may prescribe a cream or other medication. He will also check at the same time, to see if a breastfeeding mother is taking any medication that may have triggered the acne through her milk.

Why Should You Choose Laser Acne Treatment?

Acne is a skin disease caused by inflammation of pores due to bacteria from dead skin cells, skin debris and particles. It affects around 80% of the American population and usually occurs during teenage years and sometimes in adult years starting from the age of 18 – 24.

There are many different treatments available on the market but the one type of treatment that we are going to concentrate on is called Laser Acne Treatment. This is a method to get rid of and treat Acne and was developed to aid in permanently reducing acne and resurfacing / fading acne scars for serious conditions by reducing bacteria and healing affected skin.

Laser acne treatments involve the use of a laser to penetrate and remove acne affected skin so that new skin can form in its place. The procedure can last a few minutes for small areas and up to an hour for larger areas.

Sometimes, repeat laser acne treatments may be needed before you get the results that you want. However you should start seeing some kind of results after your first session. Results will vary from person to person because acne affects different people in different ways, but there should be a noticeable change after one treatment.

Compared to other treatments, Laser Acne Treatment is quick and safe and does not involve the need to take any medication or deal with messy facial creams or gels which is why it is popular among teenagers and adults. The only downside is that it is probably the most expensive acne treatment. Prices range from fifty dollars to over three thousand dollars depending on the type of laser acne treatment you choose. You may also experience some temporary swelling and redness on the treated areas for a few days.

Before considering this type of treatment, you should always ask your dermatologist or local doctor for advice on whether it is suitable for you. They will inform you of any risks involved and estimate the results that you will get from the treatment. You could also ask them to recommend a reliable and reputable laser acne surgeon.

A lot of people suffer from acne and it often affects their confidence, especially among teenagers. If you suffer from serious acne conditions, the first step in taking control would be to ask your dermatologist and they will help you in your decision and take you through the procedure.
